• Un maître d'hôtel (...) vous introduit enfin dans le saint des saints : le salon et le fumoir aux luisants acajous où, pour traiter les questions administratives, se retirent les « benchers » (...) comme se retiraient jadis les maîtres dans leur appartement, laissant le hall à leurs inférieurs, après le repas en commun, d'où le mot (...) drawingroom.
